Strange things happening on our Network - authentication failure, security relationship drops
Hi, Since yesterday when everyone powered up their machines they have been experiencing some quirky issues when attempting to browse network shares: - When attempting to browse a network share of \\server\share, a message appears Enter Network password (Login box). The System detected a possible attempt to compromise security. Please ensure that you can contact the server that authenticated you. - When trying to RDP on to some Virtual Servers, a message appears regarding the Security Relationship trust - the workaround is to rejoin it to the domain, but keeps occuring. - No-one can login over the VPN (provided by Microsoft RRAS) The error users recieve when trying to dial in on VPN is Error 691: the remote connection was denied because the username and password combination you provided was not recognised. The Domain Controller hosts the AD, DHCP and DNS. On the Domain Controller there are no errors apart from WMI ADAP DNS error ID 40. The firewall on the Domain Controller has been disabled for testing and issues still occur. Any help please? DOHMAN2011

Hello, out of the blue that much errors and NO change was made? Sorry but this is not really to believe. Lets start with some basics from the domain/DCs, please upload the following files: ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt [from each DC/DNS Server] dcdiag /v /c /d /e /s:dcname >c:\dcdiag.txt repadmin /showrepl dc* /verbose /all /intersite >c:\repl.txt ["dc* is a place holder for the starting name of the DCs if they all begin the same (if more then one DC exists)] dnslint /ad /s "DCipaddress" (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321045) As the output will become large, DON'T post them into the thread, please use Windows Sky Drive (skydrive.live.com) [with open access!] and add the link from it here. Also the /e in dcdiag scans the complete forest, so better run it on COB.Best regards Meinolf Weber MVP, MCP, MCTS Microsoft MVP - Directory Services My Blog: http://msmvps.com/blogs/mweber/ Disclaimer: This posting is provided AS IS with no warranties or guarantees and confers no rights.

No change has been made - no GPO applied, no Windows update applied, no firewall change. I'm not in the office at the moment, will be there in the morning (GMT). Will upload the outputs then. Thanks!DOHMAN2011
