Strange account lockout issue with Server 2012 R2 drive mapping

Hello,

Consider the following scenario:

1) Using my separate admin account I map a persistent network drive that's pointing to a sharepoint site and using my standard account credentials.

2) I navigate to explorer and check that the drive is indeed mapped and everything is working as expected.

3) I log off the machine and log back in and receive the following error message:

4) I check my standard account status in AD and it's locked out immediately:

Any suggestions on why it's happening?

First check that your DCs and your AD replication are in healthy state using dcdiag and repadmin commands. If something is wrong with the replication then it might explain the behavior especially if you recently changed the password.

If AD replication is okay then you need to read your DCs security logs to be able to identify the cause. Paul already create a great article about that: https://dirteam.com/paul/2012/04/23/user-account-lockout-troubleshooting/
