Standalone System Sweeper - online update possible?
I am interested in finding out if there is a way to create a DART or Dart-like CD that would run Standalone System Sweeper or something similar that would be able to update itself with the latest updates at the time of use. This would be similar to the Kaspersky or AVG Boot AV CD's.

Hi, Please check this article: How to Add Definitions for Standalone System Sweeper to the MSDaRT 6.5 Boot CD http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee460911.aspx Hope it helps. Thanks but I've seen this article and it doesn't quite answer my question. I understand that I can add definitions at the time of creation but I want to know if I can do them on-line at the time of scan. For instance with the Kaspersky or AVG AV Boot CD's you boot up the target PC with them and then they update their definitions live into a RAM disk I guess they create. Can System Sweeper on the DART CD do that?

Hi, As your question is related to Microsoft Diagnostics and Recovery Toolset which is an integral component in the Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack for Software Assurance solution, we are not the best resource to answer it. For quick and accurate response to the question, I suggest contacting related technical support department. The support professional there are more familiar with it and can help you in a more efficient way. https://partner.microsoft.com/global/supportsecurity Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. I tried your link. It goes to a page that has a lot of stuff on it - the general partner portal. I see no specific 'supportsecurity' area. Perhaps if you tested out your link and then found the more specific link you are directing me to it would make things easier for me. Is there not a blog for whoever is responsible for DART/Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack? Usually there is 'team' for an area e.g. the Virtualization team, the Exchange Team. I don't see anything like that here - I only see general references - no specific contact into that I can identify with DART.

Hi, Sorry for the delay in my response. I have confirmed with DaRT team about your question. The answer is Yes. You can update the definitions of Standalone System Sweeper online. 1. Boot to the DaRT 6.5 media. 2. Launch the Standalone System sweeper from the DaRT tools 3. Select "Check for Updates." There is a button there to "Download" the latest definitions. Meanwhile, here is the official MDOP blog: http://blogs.technet.com/b/mdop/ Hope this helps. Regards, BruceThis posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
