Standalone Root CA Error 0x80070002 when Downloading Certificate Revocation List (CRL) on Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2
Dear Sirs,I am having problem downloading latest base CRL from my CA server. The server is in Standalone Root CA mode. The CA server is running on the Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition SP2 x86.I open https://localhost/certsrvpage and click Download a CA Certificate, certificate chain or CRL. Next, I click the Download latest base CRL link at the bottom of thehttps://localhost/certsrv/certcarc.asppage. And... instead of getting the certcrl.crl downloaded on my computer, I get the Error Contact your administrator for further assistance error. The error details are: Error Contactyouradministratorforfurtherassistance. Hi,Current information is not enough for us to find the root cause of this issue. Please help to perform the following test to clarify some questions.1. Open CA console, right-click Revoked Certificates, choose All Tasks, point to Publish. Is there any error? If no error, please try to download CRL again. 2. Open C:\windows\system32\certsrv\en-us folder, could you find certcrl.crl file? 3. On http://localhost/certsrv, could you request a certificate or View the status of a pending certificates request?4. Which user account did you use to download the CRL? Thanks.

I have a similar problem.... When I go through the same scenario of trying to download the base CRL it downloads certcrl.crl which then if you save this file locally, then attempt to open it the computer will say it isn't a valid crl. I looked at the crl file with notepad and it is the actual script!!!! I have no other problems with the CA I can make certs, issue, revoke, and look at the CRL within the snapin. it is only through the certsrv app I get this issue. and I found in the CertEnroll folder the real crl for the CA. I'm guess a permissions issue on certcrl.crl?Heather
