Stale DNS records not being cleared
I have a Windows 2003 Standard Edition SP2 server that is a Domain Controller. When I look at the reverse lookup zones I am finding many stale records that are not being cleared after the 7 days as configured. This is causing issues with returning wrong information on DNS queries. In our main office we have two DCs and I have 5 remote offices each with a DC in the office. I am finding stale records in the Reverse Lookup Zones for all my subnets. Has anyone seen this issue and have any idea on what can be done to resolve it? Thanks, Bill

The aging/scavenging settings are enabled at the server and zone level. Maybe you did not enable it on that reverse lookup zone? Understanding DNS Aging and Scavenging http://www.anitkb.com/2010/04/understanding-dns-aging-and-scavenging.htmlVisit: anITKB.com, an IT Knowledge Base.

Hello, you have to configure aging/scavenging. More details are in: http://blogs.technet.com/b/networking/archive/2008/03/19/don-t-be-afraid-of-dns-scavenging-just-be-patient.aspxBest regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.
