Sound Output issues
I wasn't sure where to post this so here is the issue.
I own a Compaq Presario SR1750NX
I recently upgraded from my on-board graphics card to a ATI HD2400PRO with HDMI, well in doing so my sound doesn't work anymore. HDMI kinda just took over and HDMI is the only output device my computer list under device manager and I do not currently own any HDMI equipment, all I wanna know is how do I get my default sound back without un-installing programs andis there a way to switch back to my on-board sound device?

Hi,
Was the audio enabled before ??
with Windows Server 2008, by default audio is not enabled, you have to enable the Audio Service, check it here : http://www.elmajdal.net/Win2k8/Using_Windows_Server_2008_as_a_Workstation.aspx#step7

Hello,
I recommend you disable the HDMI output device in Device Manager and reinstall the driver of the sound card in your Windows Server 2008 machine to see whether it works. Please also follow Tarek's suggestion to enable Audio service.
If the above steps don't help, please contact to the video card manufacture for further assistance. I think they should be more experienced with similar issues.
Actually, I found the following similar inquiry in AMD ATI forum. It seems that this is a known issue for ATI graphics card.

I hope this helps.
