Slow logon from remote desktop to Windows 2003 Server r2 x64 Enterprise-Users get blue screen and copy/paste doesn't work
We have a number of users reporting slow logon from remote desktop to the terminal server. The users reporting the issue are using Window XP SP3. They can login but they get a blue screen and wait 5 minutes. If they logoff or disconnect
before the 5 mins, they can get in without issue. Also, some users can't copy and paste between their local PC and the terminal server. Any ideas?

Which RDP client version you are using?
Is there anything in Event Logs on Terminal Server?
On the client check the options of RDP connection, Local Resources | Local devices and resources | verify that clipboard is checkedWith kind regards

What version of Windows Server are you using for a terminal server? Does the Terminal Server connections policy allow clipboard.
Also, recognize the copy and paste is limited to text and picture data only. Files stored on the local system cannot be pasted through RDP as an FTP to the desktop of the remote session. When you copy a file, it doesn't goto the clipboard, it waits
for the copy command to run when you paste an object. When you copy text or images, it buffers on the clipboard... which is what carries over.

Hi,
From your description, I understand that you can logon from PC to the terminal server, but users reporting it’s very slow.
1.
Whether all users have this issue. Please make sure the client PC and terminal server have installed all critical updates.
2.
Please try to install the Remote Desktop Connection 7 in the client PC and to see whether the issue still exists.
Remote Desktop Connection 7.0 client update
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/969084/en-us
3.
Please also check if the special anti-virus software or firewall is installed in the Terminal server and client PC. Please disable them and check to see
whether the issue still exists.
4.
Whether you are using users profile redirection(Home folder or roaming profile ) in terminal server.
5.
When you hang in logon if there is any error log in server and client Event Viewer. Please post it here.
