Slow Windows 2008 Server
Hi Running Windows 2008 SP2 server. One of my application servers is running slow. The application owners say it's not them - I would like to rule out anything to do with the OS/hardware. Can anyone recommend any Perfmon counters to use (memory, CPU, that sort of thing) and what their recommended values should be?

Hello, please describe what you mean with slow in detail. How exactly do you realize it, slow logon, slow opening of application etc.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

Hello Meinolf The application itself is slow....so when the user tries to carry out an activity, the application takes a long while. We would like to rule out any OS/hardware issues first, since we manage the OS of the server, before going back to the application owners. Can you recommend any counters to run that would rule out slow CPU, slow memory, slow disk subsystem etc.?

Hi, What application did you run on the computer? You can boot the computer into Safe Mode to see whether you get any slow issue. If the system is ok, you should check the application itself. Please try to check whether the CPU usage is high when you try to carry out an activity with the application, and also the memory usage when the application is active. Best Regards, Vincent Hu
