Sharing local profiles.
Is this possible?I am currently using a mandatory profile for all students on our network. The trouble is that we use deepreeze on our lab machines, so evertimea student logs in, a new local cahed version of their profile is created. This takes a lot longer than I would like. When the machine is rebooted, thelocal profile dissappears because of deepfreeze and must be created when the student logs in again, as it is essentially the first time they log in, everytime they log in.So is there a way to force all users, or even better, a specific group of users to use a locally cached profile rather than the one that is typically created at initial logon? It seems like a logical extension or roaming/mandatory profiles, but I have been unable to find out how to do it, if it is indeed possible.Thanks.

Hi,
<is there a way to force all users, or even better, a specific group of users to use a locally cached profile rather than the one that is typically created at initial logon?>
Do you mean to force users or specific groups to use local profile instead of roaming profiles? If so, you can follow the steps below:
I take Windows Vista for example:
1)Open Control Panel and choose User Accounts
2)Double click it and select Configure advanced user profile properties
3)Choose the user that you attempt to force it to use local profile
4)Choose Change Type and select Local profile
If forcing some specific computers to use local profiles, you can consider the following group policy:
Computer configurations\Administrative Template\System\User Profiles\Only allow local user profile.
Hope this helps.
