Sharing Internet
Hi
My company has ADDS for controlling the user.
I wonder that my administrator don't use any apllications like ISA or Forfront but he can share the internet. I known that he don't use router to share the internet.
I want to know how to share internet by using DNS.

I'm having a hard time with your english, however I think you're asking if its possible to share an internet connection without ISA/TMG?
Yes. Windows Server uses RRAS and non-servers use "Internet Connection Sharing"

DNS is a name resolution device. It can translate machine names or URLs to IP addresses and vice versa.
Internet sharing is a networking matter. It is quite independent of DNS. Some Internet sharing methods like ICS or NAT can affect the way their clients do DNS lookups, but DNS alone cannot enable Internet connection sharing.

Hi,
Thank you for your post here.
1. You cannot share internet using DNS. A NAT gateway (internet connction sharing, RRAS, ISA\TMG or a router) would be a the network edge and act as the gateway which route the traffic between internet and internal network. You can check the IP address
of the NAT router by IPconfig command.
2. If there is no NAT router existing in your network while you can still access internet web page, please double check whether this is any Web Proxy configured in the web browser.

yes you cannot use DNS to share internet. Instead you can put your internet router and the the clients on the same subnet and specify the ip address of the internet routers on the gateway of clients.http://www.virmansec.com/blogs/skhairuddin

Hello,
ISA or Forefront is use for Internet proxy and firewall.
DSL Router is used for internet or gateway.
DNS is used for name resolution.
You can point the client machine with Primary DNS and use DNS farwarders to resolve external addresses.
Thanks.
