SharePoint 2013 Search from both BCS External Content Type(Sql Database) + SharePoint Document Library

Hi,

I have a scenario like this:

I want to use SharePoint 2013 Search to retrieve results from both External Content Type(of SQL Database View) as well as the corresponding document of that record from SharePoint Document Library.

Whenever my Sql table has a new record its corresponding document is uploaded to the SP Library.

So now if I search by some name suppose which is there in sql view. It should retrieve results both from sql view as well as its document details.

Is there any way to achieve this?

Thanks in advance.

Yes.  Simply configure a Content Source in SharePoint Search that leverages the a BCS connection to that SQL database.

Let me know if you stil didn't get.

Thanks a ton.

Hi Synoverge,

According to your description, my understanding is that you want to implement search data from BCS and SharePoint library in SharePoint 2013.

For implementing your requirement, you can configure multiple search result sources(from BCS and SharePoint library) for a site search in SharePoint2013. More information, please refer to the link below:

You can also try to use federated search for SharePoint 2013. More information, please take a look at:

I hope this helps.

Thanks,

Wendy
