Setting up a KMS Host
I am trying to setup a KMS host on a physical (non-virtual) Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise server. When I run the command: cscript slmgr.vbs /ipk {key} I get a message saying: "On a computer running Microsoft Windows non-core edition, run 'slui.exe 0x2a 0xC004F015' to display the error text. Error: 0xC004F015". Running the command gives a popup saying "An error has occurred". The totally useless detailed description is "The Software Licensing Service reported that the license is not installed." Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this is happening? The instructions seem so simple and straightforward, I can't imagine what is causing problems.

Hi, it would have been nice/the error message should have been "....the attempt to install the license failed, the license was not installed" but instead MS give us this confusing message text.. are you sure that the pkey you are trying to install is a KMShost key for WindowsServer? It's an "A" or "B" or "C" group/channel pkey? http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff793411 And your server is 2008R2? if you could run (as admin): cscript slmgr.vbs /dli all paste the output back here (the output does not contain your pkeys) Don
