The inventory for my servers running 2008r2 are showing up as having windows 7. Bug?

Thank you for this feedback.  I would like to confirm that the problem you are seeing is withing Asset Inventory Service and not Asset Intelligence.  If you wouldn't mind letting me know that would be great and we will start investigating this.

I'm not even sure what AI is I have a subscription for AIS and the server 2008R2 machine I uploaded showed win7 on the reports.

Do you log in to https://sc.microsoft.com to see this information?  If you do, then you are using Asset Inventory Service.  If you are talking about reports you see in System Center Configuration Manager, then it is the Asset Intelligence component.
