Servers becomes unresponsive !!

Hello,
We have 2 Servers that we are using in our Citrix environment and all of a sudden we cannot access the server through RDP or Citrix, the server is still online as we can ping but cannot login at all, even directly at the console, then only way to get the
servers back online is to hard boot the machines. We have other Citrix Servers and there are no issues with these at all. There are no errors in the logs that would indicate a problem with hardware or the OS so we are at a loss as to what the problem is. If
anyone has any ideas as to what might be causing this or to at least start to troubleshoot the issue, it would be greatly appreciated.
Servers are both running Server 2003 R2 64bit.

Thanks,
Gavin...

We can't do anything, ctl+alt+del does not work, everything just locks up.

No mouse movement either? This sounds like some harware failure. Possibly something is overheating.

That's what we thought as well, however we checked the servers when this happens and nothing indicates overheating, the strange this is it happens at exactly the same time on both of them, it makes no sense at all.

I'd also try a clean boot.
Clean boot
=================
1) Click the Start Button type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in the Run box, and then press Enter.
Note: If prompted, please click Continue on the User Account Control (UAC) window.
2) Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray).
3) Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK".
Then, shutdown/restart the computer and try to restart again to see if the hang condition persists.

So it just happened again, seems like this time the mouse is moving, we can do a CTL+ALT+DEL and then takes the password and then nothing, just get a hung login screen?

I'd also try leaving the console logged on to see whats happening.

I think I may have figured out what is causing the problem. Seems that the RDP and ICA sessions go into a down state and prevents any logins to the server. There is an MS patch that may have caused this... KB2653956 which is installed only on
these 2 Citrix servers. We have removed the patch and will see if this resolves the issue.

Looks promising. Alternately you could also install this hotfix.
