Server manager can't display roles and features (error 0x80070490)
Hello everyone,
I have a serious problem.
When server manager starts at boot it gives me a error:
Unexpected error refreshing Server Manager: Element not found. (Exceptions from HRESULT: 0x80070490)
This error is because someone stopped the updates on our server 2008 R2. i followed a couple solutions such as:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winservermanager/thread/957a47b2-7662-48cc-912b-30c1913b547b/
and
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958044
I downloaded the "System Update Readiness tool" which gave me a report. The report gave me some valuable information and it looked like i was missing some files.

As you can see I'm still missing one file that i can't find on the internet. Even if I have that last file I doubt that it will work.
Can someone please give me some advice on how i can fix this. Reinstalling the server is no option for me.
Thank you in advance

Although this is for windows 7 32bit it is the most logical step to take. The problem is that I already did this for the server and i coudn't find the Package_for_KB2489256~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.1.cat
and Package_for_KB2489256~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.1.mum.
If you know where i can find these files from the patch then i would be a step closer in making the server manager working.
Thank you for the fast reply.

you first expand the msu you download, and then the expanded cab file, its like expand file.cab drive\destination -F:*

No problem at all, but i already did this and unfortunately when i extract de update it doesn't have the file i need. I already copied the other files that were in it and that made the report file above a lot smaller. :D
I still need those two files which HOPEFULLY will fix my problem with the server manager.
It is strange that the update that you linked here didn't had the two files i needed ..... really weird.

hmm, just expanded the patch. theres the file with _rtm and _sp1. will try to compare it later at work at a w2k8 r2 server if the rtm would match the one listed without anything in your winsxs
