Server is extremely slowly
Hi, We are in middle of migration from Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2008 R2, and with one of the new server recently installed is an IBM System x3350M3 with a RAM with 8GB and four cores. UIn this server we installed Windows Server 2008 R2 standard edition, we promoted as DC/GC, and installed Exchange Server 2010 standard edition. The server is responding extremly slow, but we dont have any intensive use of processor or memory, what we can review to fix this problem?Raulito

Is the new server running in a virtualised enviroment? If you connect through remote desktop does it still perform poorly? Does the event log reveal anything? Disk read/write from performance monitor? Missing drivers in device manager? What type of HDDs, what raid?MCTS - Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Ok please provide more information in order for us to be able to help. There are still things unclear: 1. any missing drivers in device manager? 2. have you checked the performance manager disk I/O 3. Have you tried conecting through rdp? 4. Is the issue network related? Temporarly disable the NIC.MCTS - Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Ok. 1. We dont have any missing driver in device manager 2. No, we don't have checked the performance I/O, but the use of HD appears to be minimal because in the task manager we can't see anythig out of the normal behaviour 3. The server is a remote server so we have to connect to via RDP 4. The network works fine, in the same segment are another servers and client computers and all of them work fineRaulito

Make sure all the necessary h/w firmwares are updated on the server. Old firmwares are likely to cause issues as described in your post. You might want to run IBM UpdateXpress on server to see if firmwares needs any update. http://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/docdisplay?lndocid=SERV-XPRESSI do not represent the organisation I work for, all the opinions expressed here are my own.
