try checking the cable first, if it's not the cable problem try updating the network adapter drivers, if that's not the problen either try with a new network adapter card

Hi, We'll need to get more info/behavior of the issue especially when the issue is intermittent. You said ping/remote is not working. Are other communication protocols working? are you able to isolate if this is software or hardware issue? As you said in the above post, you suspect its software issue, in that case, do you observe any pattern in event log or is there a pattern in issue producing?Ketan Thakkar | Microsoft Online Community Support

Just update the drivers. If it's an Intel card it has to something with the settings on the card. I remember I had the same problem (no ping, lost of packets, and big delays) on two of my workstations, but never had the time to investigate those settings, so I replace temporarily the network card ( Realtek :-) ) and it works fine.

Can you please vefiry the network drivers are updated as someone already suggested? If you issue still persists, I'd suggest take a network trace and reproduce the issue for the traffic and go from there.Ketan Thakkar | Microsoft Online Community Support
