Server Problem
Hi, I was wondering whether anyone would be able to help. I have set up windows 2003 server and sometimes the internet goes down and I cannot move files to the server, it keeps crashing and when I click on 'My Computer' it hangs. I got two network cards showing and I'm not sure which one I have to set the DNS address for. If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hello, from the ipconfig you posted, I have not understood what is the role of the server. Is it a DNS server? Is it a DC? Please give more details of the server so that I will tell you how to configure it. This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights. The role of the server is DC but when I was installing AD, it installed DNS. I am only following instructions from what my friend left me. I understand the role of the server is DC.

Hello again, proceed like the following and all will be okay (Looks like you are trying to implement a test environment): For the DC: The ip config should be: IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.70 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254 DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.70 127.0.0.1 Use a static IP address for the DC and not an IP address assigned by your router. For the client: I see that it is member of your domain so give it this ip settings: Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.65 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254 DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.70 On the DNS server, set 4.2.2.2 as a forwarder. Thank you for your help, I have managed to do what you told me to but I have configured to begin with just two clients as follows: The Server: IP Address - 192.168.1.20 Client 1: IP Address - 192.168.1.25 Client 1: IP Address - 192.168.1.30 it works for a little while but when both clients are used it keeps crashing and the internet does not connect.
