Server Partitions
Hi,
We have the following server primarily hosting SQL Server:
Intel Xeon 5460
32 GB RAM
3 Partitions: C:20GB, L:116GB, D:1.22TB
C drive has all programs; L drive houses all Log files and D drive houses all data files of the SQL Server.
We are running out of space on C and thinking of rebuilding the server with the following partitions:
C: 80 GB; Operating System
E: 100 GB; All applicationSoftware
L: 100 GB; All log files
D: remaining; All data files
My concerns:
1. Is this the best solution from what we have or is there a better way?
2. Is it a good practice to have a spepate application partition (E here) where all applications are installed?
3. Is 80 GB enough for C partition?
Any suggestion or direction is much appreciated.
Thank you,Tyampoo

I'd think 80 should be more than enough. I usually use 50 gB for OS in similar situations.

Hi
you don't need to rebuild the server.
you can steal some space from D drive 50GB
it you server has raid five or mirror
i never rebuilt the server. I steal some space from d drive and merge into c drive and that increase some space
I done last week moce 20gb from e drive and merge into c drive
you need to search some tools or need to buy some tools
