Server Infrastructure Licensing SBS08
We are assisting an organization that is receiving an error under Applications and Services Logs\Microsoft\Windows\Server Infrastructure Licensing\Operational in the event viewer. They are running SBS 2008 on two servers (Both our genuine)in two different locations. Both are domain controllers in the same domain. They also have a Novell GroupWiseServer for email that doesn'thave anything to do with the SBS servers. Every 30 minutes, on the dot, we receive two errors on only one of the SBS servers - an Event ID error 4 that states:The Additional Server Count Check in the Licensing component did not pass because error 0x8007200a occurred in function f1031 [TOFB]. The specified directory service attribute or value does not exist.Make sure that your DNS server can be contacted and the following services are running: Active Directory Domain Services (NTDS), DNS Server (DNS), Kerberos Key Distribution Center (KDC). This server will be automatically shut down if the issue is not corrected. Those services are running, and we have yet to find any error that relates to them. The other error is an Event ID 38 that states: The Additional Server Count Check detected a condition in your environment that is out of compliance with the licensing policy. This server will be automatically shut down if the issue is not corrected in 176 day(s) 1 hour(s) 30 minute(s). Please look for additional events for Additional Server Count Check to troubleshoot. The countdown started out at 180 days but wasn't noticed until the server shutdown for the first time in mid August. Now it is counting down again. We have looked in Event Viewer for any other correlating error, but besides this problem, the server is running smoothly. We have not been able to find many resources online and have not been able to properly address this problem. We do not know what is causing this problem. If any other information is needed, please let me know! Any other help or resources will be greatly appreciated.

Hello,as far as i know you can NOT run 2 SBS servers in the same domain, doesn't matter which version. This is by design because the SBS machine MUST have the 5 FSMO roles installed. Please use the SBS related forum/newsgroup where you will find the real SBS experts:http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/list/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.windows.server.sbsorhttps://connect.microsoft.com/sbs08/community/discussion/richui/default.aspx?wa=wsignin1.0Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
