Server 2012 volume license: valid path from desktop OS?
Hi. Can you use an Open Business volume license for Server 2012 R2 Standard on a desktop computer
where the underlying license is Windows 7 or 8.1 Professional? I know the volume license for Server 2012 requires a preexisting license (OEM or FPP) on the physical system, but does it have to be a Server license? Thanks.

Technically, Windows client OS can't be upgraded to server version. For the question about volume licensing, to get better help, please contact the VLSC for help.
