Server 2008 x64 (not R2!) random lock ups
Afternoon, Have a frequent annoying problem where my Server 2008 standard x64 machine will randomly lock up, it runs IIS 7, SQL Server 2008 x64 Web. I can be sat on RDP just administrating sites, or it will randomly happen on its own - it will lock up, RDP will stop responding, the sites will no longer respond. The machine is less then a year old and is in a remote datacentre. The only way to get it back is to hard reboot it. I'm not able to use KVM software to see the screen, as it kills the connection. When i check event viewer there is nothing there I can see of any significance. I'm unable to recreate this through any steps, it just appears to do it at will. Found two related articles of a similiar issue on R2, but the hotfix does not apply to this version. Random event that happens, once its hard rebooted, sometimes there is no internet connection in which I have to do a manual reboot, then it comes back fine. Currently running a full server scan with ESET, but im at a loss. AndrewAndrew

I have reviewed the hotlink lists, none of those are related to the issues I am having. I have spoken to the datacentre (as they do not support this unless i cough up some £) who say even though the KVM stops responding, it would indicate a crash, but event viewer does not indicate this. Also I cannot find anything related to hardware failures in event viewer. Alas, I am at a loss.Andrew

Hi Andrew, We may have to analyze memory dump file to narrow down the cause of this issue. However, forum is not the best place for analyzing dump. It’s suggested to contact Microsoft Customer Support Services (CSS) so that a dedicated Support Professional can help you on this issue. To obtain the phone numbers for specific technology request please take a look at the web site listed below. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-US;PHONENUMBERS If you are outside the US please see http://support.microsoft.com for regional support phone numbers. Thanks for your understanding. Regards, Bruce
