Server 2008 download dvd ISO image
I've been trying to download the DVD ISO image for Server 2008 x64. The download starts but ends quickly and I have a 2K file with the correct name. I know this can't be correct. I have successfully downloaded the x86 version. (BTW: it runs great.) Is the file on the download server broken / missing / corrupt? Thanks Rich1948.

What link are you using? I just went to http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/us/trial-software.aspxand selected the Download it now button to dowload a copy of x64 Enterprise. The download worked fine for me. tgc

Hi, Please refer to Tim's post. Also, you can try this link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=B6E99D4C-A40E-4FD2-A0F7-32212B520F50&displaylang=en If this issue stillremains, pleaseperform a clean boot to avoid other application influance. To perform a clean boot, please do as follows: 1. Click Start->Run...->type msconfig and press Enter 2. Click Services tab and select Hide All Microsoft Services and Disable All third party Services. 3. Click Startup tab and Disable All startup items 4. Click OK and choose Restart 5. After reboot, check whether the problem still occurs Also, you can refer to the following article to install Windows server 2008: Install Windows Server 2008 Step by Step http://www.petri.co.il/how-to-install-windows-server-2008-step-by-step.htm I hope this helps. Thanks for responding. That's all very nice and all. The link works fine. The download works fine. I get a DVD.ISO file that is 6.17KB not the 2539.9MB it clames to be. The links are fine the file is wrong, or I'm doing something incredibly stupid. I can never rule that out. Rick1948

Well, I just copied it down (again) from the link I gave above. I got a file of 2.47 GB and am using it right now to install a copy in a virtual machine. I've gone through all the initial questions and it has copied all the files and is in the process of expanding them. I don't think I could get that far without having a valid file. I don't know what sort of problem you are having, but did you try to reboot as was suggested earlier and try to copy again? tgc

One other thought ... Are you doing this from your home system or from a system at your place of employment? The reason I ask is that I had a customer last week trying to download from the volume license site from their work account. I went round and round with them and even raised it as a customer satisfaction issue within our organization, saying we had something screwed up.The customer actually tried from multiple PCs with different operating systems and was unable to get a valid download. The customer went home and copied it down from home with no problem at all. They are investigating their corporate network. They have no idea what is set up on their network, but as soon as they got away from their corporate network, everything worked fine for them. And, they were saying similar things about getting only a few KBs in a file. They haven't found out what the issue is with their network, but they continue to copy from home with no problem. BTW, my install completed fine. tgc

Hi Tim,I'm working from my corporate system, which happens to be in my home. I also have a separate DSL line for my home usage. I took my wifes MAC off her DSL Modem and connected my Vista laptop to it. I can download the file to the laptop but it is dog slow. I'm talking 30 KB/sec, slower than dialup! I usually get over 300KB/sec. I don't know why it's so slow. I checked the settings and rebooted the Modem and Laptop. I'm connected to the modem at 100MB speed. It should be much faster. As it is, I'm currently downloading Server 2008 x64 I should have it some time tomorrow.I am willing to work with you guys to resolve the issue, if you like. Rick1948
