Server 2008 R2 x64
Been having problems with windows update on this box. It sees there are downloads available but fails.
I've tried many things including "reset windows components http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058"
This has resulted in me having bits and wuauserv giving a system error 5 access denied when i try to start them.
I reckon this is caused by the aforementioned article. Is there a definitive article on resetting windows update on 2008 r2 64 bit?

Hello,
try proceeding like that:
run
chkdsk /r /f and sfc /scannow Disable all security softwares
Download and install System update Readiness tool for your OS
If this does not help, perform an in-place upgrade of your OS.
