Server 2008 R2 Task Scheduler E-Mail Notification
From start to finish this is what I am doing: Setup a Custom View in the Event Viewer to monitor a specific process. (Basically to tell me the changes in my Intel matrix RAID) I then attached a task to that Custom View and setup the schedule to send E-Mail when event is reported... All is well up until this point...I know and understand that Microsoft has set this up to NOT allow any kind of SMTP server that used authentication. I know, real simple and yet frustrating and stupid. The company is using web based email that does not allow anonymous mail (godaddy)...obviously for security reasons. I am trying to brainstorm ideas that are RELIABLE. Thoughts are to: Use an anonymous email server = unreliable & hard to find Try to set up a virtual SMTP feature to relay anonymous emails to another legitimate smtp server like smtp.gmail.com = more reliable but need guidance Try using 2nd party software to send the emails = would be thoroughly annoyed if I end up having to install something to simply email an alert WTF Microsoft? This is so simple...what’s the deal? Just include a user name and password for authentication....sounds simple. Any help would be great!
