Server 2008 R2 SP1 Fail 0x80073701
Good morning, I have a RODC that always fails to install SP1 with error: ERROR_SXS_ASSEMBLY_MISSING(0x80073701) I have used the Windows_6.1_Readiness_Tool_KB947821-v12-x64 and it completes successfully and its CheckSUR.log also says there are no bad files. I have also performed a SFC /SCANNOW and this also detects no problems. This RODC happens to have bitlocked enabled but the key is in when the server reboots and causes no problems. Many thanks Paddy

Hello, try proceeding like that: Run chkdsk /r /f and sfc /scannow Download and intsall System Update Readiness tool for your OS Reset Windows Update components Disable all security softwares If this does not help, perform a repair install of your OS. 1. Run the checksur.exe (System Update Readiness Tool) tool. 2. Run System File Checker. From the command line run the command sfc /scannow 3. Review the cbs logs and uninstall the patches which were missing assemblies and reboot the server. 4. Reinstall Service Pack 1. or else You might need to perform an in-place upgrade of Windows Server 2008 R2. This will repair all missing/damaged files.

I have performed the actions above already and I uploaded the cbs.logs because I don't know what it is I should be looking for in the logs. Will performing an in-place upgrade the current roles of my RODC,DNS,DHCP and DFSR? I do NOT want to perform a repair if it means rebuilding all the roles on the RODC? Many thanks

I have performed all the steps as requested by both Syed and Mr X but still am unable to install SP1. Is there anybody that can analyse the logs and provide a bit more guidance? I thought the days of installing Service Packs in fear had gone? evidently NOT. I appreciate any help.
