We have 2 Windows 2008 servers that are stand alone. We have a Domain Account for monitoring, and there is a mirrored local account on those machines. There is also the same local account on all of our 2003 machines as well. We can see Event Viewer on all the 2003 servers using the domain account, but cannot on the 2008 servers. So basically the domain account cannot see/has no access to event viewer. We have been trying to solve the problem however, we cannot find a solution. Thanks for any replies.

Both the standalone machine are in domain member serveror workstation.

We actually found the error. Although the user account had access and was set as an administrator on the box it could not be monitored. The reason for that was the user account was granted administrator access, but was not given higher privilege in UAC which stopped the user from monitoring the box remotely. Therefore by disabling UAC we were able to monitor the server 2008 box from our monitoring server.
