Server 2008 Installation on a .iso file
Hello Michael, Aside from having a bootable CD/DVD, you need to make sure that your computer's BIOS is configured to boot from that device. If by any chance you plan on running this OS in a virtualized environment, there is no need to burn to DVD. The VM apps now all have support to mount an ISO in the virtual DVD drive for the guest OS. Hello MTGlenn To mount an .ISO file, you will need a virtual drive manager such as Daemon Tool and Virtual Clone Drive. Actually it is not mandatory if you are planning to build Server 2008 in a virtualization environment cause most hypervisors nowadays are capable of loading ISO files. You are probably trying to build Server 2008 on a new hard drive. If so, please burn the ISO image to a DVD first. I have recently downloaded a trial version of 2008 Server which came as an .iso file. As far as I was able to research I should be able to burn a DVD of the file and boot from it and start the installation. Is this correct. My server which has no operating system doesn't seem to be able to boot from it and install the software. Any help would be appreciatedMichael T. Glenn
