Hi, Though Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation has some limitations compared with other editions of Windows Server 2008 R2, the core feature are the same. Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation can be used as a member server or domain controller. It supports almost the same client operating systems that interact with domain controllers of other editions of Windows Server 2008 R2. As I know, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 client computers are fully compatible with writable Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 domain controllers.
