Server 2008 Activation and my TechNet Subscription
I have aTechnet Plus subscription at work...I am the only user.My account shows me having 1,500 activations available for Server 2008. A previous post mentioned that this in incorrect and is actually a bug that is going to be fixed soon (http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2792311&SiteID=17). So, I have two questions. 1. How many activations will I have? I have a standard Technet subscription (one user...not volume licensing...retail) 2. I want to test Hyper-V. If I install Server 2008 on a machine and then install the 4 virtual machines using Hyper-V (as permitted for the Enterprise version), how many activations will I use? The license says that a new activation won't be used if I reinstall OS on same hardware, I just didn't know how the virtualization effects this. Would I only use 1 activation since this is all the same hardware, or would I use one for host and one for all 4 guests (2 total), or one for host and one for each guest (5 total)? Thanks!
