Server 2003 Standard Ed. R2
I just replaced the battery and memory modules on a Dell Poweredge 1850. Before I run testing on this server blade, do I need to perform a defrag on it to clear any caches or other possible hang ups? If so, what other things do I need to check for? This is my first full on file server set up.

You can perform a defrag and a check disk operation (for check disk, run chkdsk /r /f). For crashes, make sure that you Windows is configured to generate dump files. If a crash occur, use Microsoft Skydrive and upload dump files (%systemroot%\minidumps like c;\windows\minidumps) and post a link here so that I analyze them. If you want to debug dump files, use Windbg and refer to this Microsoft article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315263 This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.
