Server 2003 Install Drive letter
I have just purchased a system builder Server 2003 standard R2 operating system and when I install the OS the drive letter that is used is I:. How do I change this to C:? Everything I have tried tells me the same thing. Can't change the volume letter that contains the system boot. Any help would be wonderful.

Unplug any USB Cardreader devices you might have connected. I'm guessing that you're installing on a normal desktop machine (seeing SystemBuilder licenses vs. OEM + Hardware). Could be wrong, but in that case: need more input regarding install method.

Hi, After Windows Setup program is finished, you cannot change the drive letter of the system partition where the boot volume (%Windir%) resides. The drive letter of the hard disk on which Windows is installed is hard-coded in the registry. If you change this the drive letter, programs in the "Program files" directory may not run correctly because the registry may have pathing to the old drive letter. Changing these drive letters by using any tools or by modifying the registry is not supported. Therefore, to avoid any unexpected problems, it is not recommended to change the drive letter where the system resides. To this situation, I suggest you clean install Windows Server 2003 on C: drive.
