Server 2003/Windows 7 logon issue
This is a very strange issue. We ran a Windows XP pro. / Server 2003 setup at our office for the longest time. There are two offices, one main (in a large city) and one remote, they are connected by fiber. Recently our fiber went down and we had changed many of the machines to windows 7. Now here is the strange part, none of the windows 7 machines would logon to the domain (even though they had a domain controller on the same subnet), we even tried local accounts, and still nothing. They were literally all useless, However all XP machines were fine, zero issues, could logon no problem, just couldn't see the other domain (obviously). I have no idea what would cause this, on each domain there is a DC, Dns, etc. How could windows 7 machines have this issue while other didn't? Does anyone have ANY idea why in the world this would happen? Or how we would fix it?

Hello, is the site DC also Global catalog server? With the options to logon starting with Windows Vista you have to choose domain\username or username@domain.com which requires a Global catalog available.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

Hi , please post ipconfig /all output from xp client and windows 7 client. What is the error message you receive when you are trying to authenticate to domain. My another feeling is that if your user account is not able to get authenticated , then adding windows 7 to domain should also be problem ? please confirm.

Hi, Thank you for posting here. To narrow down this issue, please confirm the following information. Does Windows 7 client join domain successfully? Does its NIC points to the correct domain DNS server? What's the error message you got when you are trying to logon the domain?
