Server 08 R2 Time Issue
I have a standalone DC set up on a new HP Proliant ML350 G6. A few times a day (randomly) the time changes. I'm not sure if it's the BIOS time changing, which then changes the OS time or the other way around. I replaced the CMOS battery
and flashed the BIOS. Is there anything in Server 08R2 that would cause this in any way? It's a standalone but is the time source for the domain. This is in a secure facility so isn't connected to the Internet. Fortunately,
it isn't in production yet but it need to get put in ASAP. Any ideas / thoughts / suggestions? Thanks!

By chance is the server a Virtual Machine.
The Windows 2008 server will not change the time unless it is updated. If the system is not updating to an external time source then you need to check to make sure the system can update from the CMOS

Hi,
I would like to confirm the following questions:
1.
Did you change any settings before the issue began?
2.
Is this the only time source server in the domain?
3.
What are the related event errors you can read in Event Viewer?
This issue may be caused by the installed third party software conflicts.
Based on the current situation, I would like to suggest you disable all the third party services or perform a Clean Boot to test the issue. For the detailed
steps of how to perform a Clean Boot environment, please refer to the following steps:
1.
Click
Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press
ENTER.
2.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password or click Continue.
3.
On the
General tab, click Selective startup.
4.
Under
Selective Startup, click to clear the Load startup items check box.
5.
Click the
Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft services check box, and then click
Disable all.
6.
Click
OK, and then click Restart.
What is the result in Clean Boot?
