I have a need to orphan a tree from a root forest. I know, this is not the proper way to do things but I have no choice at this time I am in a company that has been sold off from our parent company. We are still connected at this time but they want to break the connection ASAP. Before they break the connection, they want to remove our tree domain from their forest. My question is, can they remove my tree from their forest without causing my tree to stop functioning? I need to still be able to have my tree functional authenticating users.

Hello, no, you cannot remove the tree from the forest that easy. You have to use ADMT(free from Microsoft) or tools like Quest AD migration(not free) to migrate the tree to another new forest.
