Select Remote Users is greyed out.
I have a small network aside from the main network I manage and I need to be able to allow someone on the DC (server 2003) via remote desktop for a while. However the option to select remote users is grayed out.
There is 2 DCs the server 2003 in question and a 2000 server. The domain is in 2000 mixed, forest is in 2000 in case that matters.
I do know that the Remote Desktop Users group is not in the ADUC, I did try to add it manually but it did not seem to make a difference. And remote desktop is working because that is how I am logging into the machine since it is offsite. (logging in
as administrator)
I tried looking through the GPOs and there really isn't much done to them, this network is super small. I did try to configure the allow logon through terminal services policy that didnt make a difference.
So hopefully someone here can help me out, Ive googled the snot out of this one and every thread I find on this was abandoned before there was any solid solution.
Thank you

It seems like you have some GPOs in place to control RDP.
Run a Gpresult command on the server to identify the applied GPOs.

Just default domain and default domain controller policy.
does the fact that there isnt a remote desktop users group hint towards anything?

Hi,
Thank you for your post here.
I believe that the absence of the
Remote Desktop Users group is
missing from the Builtin container in AD results in the issue. You may try to transfer the PDC role to a 2003 DC from the 2000 DC to check whether the Remote Desktop Users
group will be created or not.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to let me know.
