Hello, download the update and install it manually. If this does not help, try the following: Disable all security softwares that you have Reset Windows Update components Run chkdsk /r /f and sfc /scannow Also refer to that: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958051 This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights. Hi 400Ace, You can try to manually download and install it: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=26420 Meanwhile, check the following article. This issue may occur if the system is infected by malware. Error code "0x8007F0F4" or "FFFFFFFF" when you install an update for Windows http://support.microsoft.com/kb/981198 Hope this helps. Bruce, I have symantec end point protection installed and have ran malwarebytes on the server to no avail. This is a new install of the operating system on this server. Currently the server is a backup and has no network role. My concern is a security update that will not install on this server but has installed on my 7 other 2003 server standard r2. I cannot get free support since it is on a server. The update log refers to registry values not being at the values needed to install the update. I am not one to go digging around the registry without guidence.Lyman L Decker Jr
