Hello,
download the update and install it manually.
If this does not help, try the following:
Disable all security softwares that you have Reset Windows Update components Run chkdsk /r /f and sfc /scannow
Also refer to that: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958051

Hi 400Ace,
You can try to manually download and install it:
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=26420
Meanwhile, check the following article. This issue may occur if the system is infected by malware.
Error code "0x8007F0F4" or "FFFFFFFF" when you install an update for Windows

Hope this helps.

Bruce,
I have symantec end point protection installed and have ran malwarebytes on the server to no avail. This is a new install of the operating system on this server. Currently the server is a backup and has no network role. My
concern is a security update that will not install on this server but has installed on my 7 other 2003 server standard r2. I cannot get free support since it is on a server. The update log refers to registry values not being at the values needed
to install the update. I am not one to go digging around the registry without guidence.Lyman L Decker Jr
