Do you mean Security Policy or Security Group membership update? For Security Policy, Windows will refresh it every 5 minutes (regardless of what Windows version) For Security Group Membership, there is not a defined interval for how long will it take effect, it depends on when the affected users will re-login to domain as the membership for a user only be manipulated when user logs on to domain.l love .net

Hi, I think Andy is correct. If you mean Secrurity Policy, by default it's updated every five minutes. The gpupdate /force command is used to refresh Group Policy settings immediately. Refer to: Group Policy refresh interval for domain cortrollers: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc940905.aspx Refresh Group Policy settings with GPUpdate.exe: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc739112(v=WS.10).aspx If you are referring to Security Group Membership, the end user needs to re-login to get the new membership after the group membership updated. There is an article about When add a user to a global group in Winows Server 2003, the user's membership is not recognized immediately, have a check if needed: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/871159 Regards, Cicely
