Security Configuration Wizard will not complete
Having a bit of trouble with the SCW on an x64 Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Service Pack 2 machine (Version 6.0 (Build 6002: Service Pack 2))This machine was a VM that had been snapshotted and then restored. When I attempt to run the SCW I get a dialog when clicking the Next button on the Select Server page that states "The OS version of the selected server is not supported" and I cannot continue. Does not matter if I use NETBIOS or FQDN, or from the previous page try to create new or apply existing.Tried to D/L & reapply SP2 but it would not let me and do not see a way to uninstall/reinstall SCW.Looking for ideas/pointers for next steps around this problem.ThanksEric

Hi Eric, I suggest we try to disable or uninstall all third party software, such as antivirus and Firewall software to test. If the issue persists, help to collect the following information for research. 1. From SCW, could you connect to other Windows Server from this server? 2. Could any other Windows Server connect to itself or this server? 3. Process Monitor trace file: Process Monitor v2.04 http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx Download and run it. Click Filter, choose Process Name, type SCW.exe, type add. Try to reproduce this error. When the error occurs, Stop capturing and exported filtered events to Logfile.PML and upload the file and then use Windows Live SkyDrive (http://www.skydrive.live.com/) to upload the file and then give us the download address.
