We have an issue on our sharepoint 2013 environment concerning search queries that are not returning the results. When looking in the ULS logs I can find Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Query.Ims.ImsQueryInternal entries where I can see that their are relevant results available. But the queries where the relevant results are 1 don't return any search results when using the "find an Item" searchbox or searchpage. When the relevant results are 2 or more search results are displayed.

Has anyone came across this issue and if so can you point me in the right direction to solve this issue?

Hi Guy,

As I understand, if the relevant results=1, it will not return any search result when searching in SharePoint 2013.

You could reset index and do a full crawl again to check if it can work.

You also could check if there is query rule about the issue in the search service application.

Thanks for your answer. I already tried the solutions you propose. I think the issue I have is a kind of bug. I created a list with a title and a multiline text box. I give in the following text in the textbox :

ACBA : Accounting & Banking
COCO : Controlling and Consolidation

Next I run an incremental crawl and wait untill this crawl is finished.

I open the list and use the "Find an Item" box on the page.

Searching for ACBA returns the item I created.
Searching for Accounting returns the item I created.
Searching for and returns the item I created.
Searching for Banking doesn't return the item I created.
Searching for COCO doesn't return the item I created.
Searching for Controlling returns the item I created.
Searching for & doesn't return the item I created.

Searching for Consolidation returns the item I created.

I find it strange that sharepoint doesn't find 3 words of the 8 I wrote in the multiline text box.

Could this be a bug?

Seems to be a problem with build 15.0.4571.1502. Upgrade is required to solve the issue.
