Search box in list webpart

Hi,

We created a simple list webpart on a page, but the search box that is integrated to it doesn't seem to return any result.

I have checked that the search service is enabled and crawling the site.

In the list advanced parameters, the parameter to include the list in the search results is activated.

I use Sharepoint 2013 on premises.

Any clue ?

I recommend to verify the things below:
  1. Check the permission of the user to see if the user has permission to view the documents.
  2. Do a full crawl in Search Service Application to see if the issue still occurs.
  3. Check the Advanced settings of the library to see if the items from this document library are allowed to appear in search results. If it is set to No, change it to Yes and click Reindex List, then do a full crawl in Search Service Application.
  4. Check if the Search Service Application is started in Central Administration and check if the URL of the site is added to the Content Source.

If the issue still occurs, I recommend to check this thread which can be helpful as it shows a different story.

Hi,

1) I'm testing from my account, I'm administrator (domain + sharepoint + local + etc.) beside, I can see the list in the page, but the search in the same page doesn't return any result.

2) A full crawl is performed each sunday since the installation.

3) It's activated, I tried to reindex it before submitting this thread.

4 It's started and added.

EDIT : just checked also, the approval is not required to add new

Are items in that list really being crawled? Check the crawl logs for a particular file/item in search administration.

Are any items being returned in any search pages or is Search totally broken?

Are the items/files in that list/library being returned on any other search page?

Hi,

According to the crawling logs, there are no errors in the crawling of those lists.

They appear nowhere in search, other items appear : people, files on network shares, pages etc.

That isn't what i asked, are they being crawled? If there was an issue further down the chain then the items might never be found in the first place and so might never be indexed.

Go to the crawl logs and try to find the items and verify that they are showing up as sucsessfully crawled.

Since we know that the rest of the search infrastructure is working for other searches we can rule out a large chunk of failure modes.

Excellent, it didn't seem clear but if the items are showing up on the crawl logs then that's a good sign.

Can you find those items in any dedicated search pages?

Do you get different behaviour with normal users and Site Collection administrator users?

Are list searches working in other lists in the same site collection?

I start wondering if I stating my problem correctly.

I have a sharepoint website containing various wikis, lists (ie table web part), files, diary.

On several pages I have search textboxes : either dedicated search page (SearchCenter), or part of a list web part.

Content crawling is activated on :

1) All sharepoint site (containing wikis, lists web parts, docs etc)

2) "Private sites" to populate profiles

3) Network shares.

If I start a query on a dedicated search page (ie https://mysite/SearchCenter/Pages/), I get results : persons, documents, page contents from wiki etc.

If I go to a list page (simple tabular data entered via a form) and use the webpart's integrated search box, I get no restult.

I don't know if I'm using the right terms, this sharepoint was inherited from a company we bought so I did not participated in its installation.

Thanks.

Those all sound like the right terms to me.

That means that data is making its way into the index and can be searched upon, however the list searches aren't working.

It sounds like that's true for all lists?
