Sealed Management Pack Import errors

I am working with a sealed MP that we created to contain our Groups in SCOM. This was originally created for SCOM 2007 and we have since upgraded to SCOM 2012. Here is the issue. Over time we have added groups into the MP to cover different products Like exchange 2007 then exchange 2010, Lync 2010 and Lync 2013. Now I am trying to remove the groups we no longer need. Which I have done. But now when I try to import the new MP with less groups in it the import fails with the errors Below. These of course are the groups I removed from the MP. Is there a way to get around these errors short of deleting the MP and then importing it again? That route would break a lot of custom monitors , Rules, Overrides etc.  Anyone have any suggestions.

If any management packs in the Import list are dependent on this management pack, the installation of the dependent management packs will fail.

because it's a sealed MP, when you remove elements from it and increase the version number, you will not able to in place upgrade from the existing version. You will need to delete the old version from your MG and then import the new one.

Also, on a side note, when you delete those groups, please also go through the MP references and delete the references that are no longer needed.
