Safe mode fails 2008 R2
Hi, We have HP servers running Windows 2008 R2 x64, and we are not able to boot into any of safe modes. Servers boot into normal mode and no problem observed. When we choose safe mode, windows is loading drivers, screen with CTRL+ALT+DEL appears but after that server is automatically restarted after few seconds. I can upload a ntblog.txt from one server when needed. A) One server running 2008 R2 standart dont have cdrom mounted-event log keep saying cdrom.sys is missing, normal mode is working but safe mode dont B) Another server runnng 2008 R2 enterprise do have cd cd mounted-event log is not reporting errors, normal mode is working but safe mode dont We even tried do a clean instalation of 2008 R2 in ESXi enviroment, but with same result like above I mentioned. We are suspecting our install image. Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

Thanks for that, but I'm able to access to advanced boot menu where Safe mode can be lunched.

Is the server just restarting or blue screening and auto restarting?

Hi, I would like to suggest you perform the following steps to check if you can boot into Safe Mode. 1. Log on to the computer by using an account that has administrator rights. 2. Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the Search box, and then press ENTER to start the System Configuration Utility. 3. Switch to Boot tab and check Safe boot. 4. Click OK and restart the computer to check the result. Regards,Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Update: I tried different install image and safe mode is working. Is there any way to repair safe mode in current instalation or in the install image?

Is the server just restarting or blue screening and auto restarting? Just restarting, no blue screen.
