SSRS Printing Issue - Need to install ActiveX
We have SSRS reports hosted on a terminal server. When user clicks PRINT button, there is a prompt "Printing is not available. Verify that ActiveX is enabled,..." When logs on as Admin, we can install this ActiveX, however normal users won't have the privilege. Has anyone experienced the similar issue before? Any suggestions? Thanks for the help!

Hi,

According to your description, when logging on as ordinary user and clicking the print button, the report cannot be printed, right?

In Reporting Services, we can set "EnableClientPrinting" or "Enable download for the ActiveX client print control" to control the client-side printing. In our local environment, we have tested this scenario and reproduce this issue. The cause of the issue is that the user has no permission to download ActiveX control.

In your scenario, when logging on as Admin, the user can download and install the ActiveX, so the report can be printed. Please check if the ordinary user has permission to download and install ActiveX.

Hi nzcnf1,

From you description, it is keep asking every time to install ActiveX Control, RSClientPrint when you try to print any report, right? This issue occurs because Internet Explorer is requesting the current build RSClientPrint.cab file. However, the server only has the RTM version RSClientPrint.cab file. There is a fix for this issue, for more information about it, please see:

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
