SSRS 2008 R2 charts takes lot of time to render

Hello,

When I try to execute the SSRS report having chart with data more than 1000 records, I get an exception "The server request timed out".

I had a look at 'ExecutionLog3' table of 'ReportServer' database. 'TimeDataRetrieval' and 'TimeProcessing' is in few milliseconds but 'TimeRendering' is very high.

The stored procedure is also executed in no time.

SSRS treats the charts as images and hence it may take a lot of time in rendering.

Please let me know if someone has a solution for this.

Hi Vinrang,

Report rendering occurs after data and layout are combined into an interim format and then passed to a rendering extension. In your scenario, 'TimeDataRetrieval' and 'TimeProcessing' is in few milliseconds but 'TimeRendering' is very high. This issue can be affected by the amount of data, the number of instances of report items, and paging. For the detail information, please see:
