SSMS 2012 crashed in Windows 10

hello all,

I use SSMS 2012 recently, and find something interesting.

First, I login Windows by User A, and start SSMS.

Then, press Win + L and login by User B.

And now, switch back to User A, SSMS crashed...

I try it five times, and SSMS crashed absolutly.

What version does SSMS report when you do Help->About? Make sure that you have SSMS 2012 SP2 installed. Not that I know if it helps, but lower versions of SSMS are certainly not supported on Win 10. (And I don't know if SSMS 2012 SP2 is either.)

Thanks.

I think it is not version SP2.

Current version:

Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio                        11.0.2100.60
Microsoft Analysis Services Client Tools                        11.0.2100.60
MDAC                       10.0.10240.16384
Microsoft MSXML                        3.0 6.0
Microsoft Internet Explorer                        9.11.10240.16384
Microsoft .NET Framework                        4.0.30319.42000
OS                        6.3.10240

Should I upgrade to sp2?

Should I upgrade to sp2?

yes ofcourse, please always try  to keep your system on latest SP. I am not aware why this crashing is happening but SP2 might fix this

I think it is not version SP2.

Correct. You have the RTM version, which certainly is not supported on Windows 10. (In fact, it is not supported at all.)

Should I upgrade to sp2?

Yes.
