SSL certification and licensing
I have a query about licensing when connecting to a server to request an SSL certificate. I have a web server set up that has Server 2003 Web Server Edition installed running a 3rd party website, and I want to use SSL certificates for added security. As this server cannot have the CA running on it, I was going to set up a second server with Server 2003 Standard and the Certificate Authority service installed. When running the above senario in a lab environment, I noticed that when a new user (that doesn't already have an SSL certificate) connects to the Web Server, a page appears with a link to the CA server so you can request a certificate. My question is, as the user is redirected to and is connecting to a server running 2003 Standard to request a certificate, do I need to buy a CAL for the user as they are connecting to the 2003 standard server just to request the certificate?
