SSAS: Connectivity Issue.

Hi,

I have issues connecting to Analysis Service using Management Studio. Im getting following Error Message.

TITLE: Connect to Server

------------------------------

Cannot connect to MDSPSDB01\dbm_sps1.

------------------------------

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

A connection cannot be made. Ensure that the server is running. (Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdClient)

------------------------------

DIME protocol error: The required bytes cannot be read from the stream. (Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdClient)

------------------------------

BUTTONS:

OK

In my system I have SQL Server 2008 Standard edition and SQL Server 2008R2 Developer edition.

Im using Port 1433 for standard Edition Port 1435 for Developer Edition.

Please advice

Hi Srinkivas,

Please open SQL Server Configuration Manager to check the services are run.

In addition, the default instance of Analysis Services listens on TCP port 2383. You can refer to the following article to determine the port of an SSAS instance:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2466860

You can also try to use <IPAddress>:<portnumber> connect to your SSAS server.
