SQL Server and Host Server licensing
I have Windows 2003 domain with two PDC's (Win 2003 servers). We need to buy and install Server 2008 R2 standard and SQL Server 2008 R2 standard. Server 2008 R2 will be the member server in existing 2003 domain and will host SQL server 2008. We are using Microsoft GP with 22 licenses which will be utilizing SQL database on the new server. Other then CAL's for SQL server 2008and Microsofr GP, do we need to purchase also CAL's for host server 2008 or only CAL's for SQL server be sufficient since server will be used only for SQL database for Microsoft GP?

Hello, i assume "have Windows 2003 domain with two PDC's" is a typo as a domain contains one DC with the PDCEmulator FSMO only. For licensing questions better use Microsoft support or your license reseller. This is always special with all the different options and they will give you correct answers.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.
