SQL 2012 SSAS KPIs & Excel Bug?

It appears (we're still testing) that regardless of any settings in SSAS Multi-Dimensional 2012 SP1 for Status or Trend indicators, Excel 2010 or 2013 ignores them and simply shows the "default/first" Icon Sets of "3 Arrows Colored" for Directional (i.e. Trend) and "3 Traffic Lights Unrimmed" for  Shapes (i.e. Status) respectively.

This was definitely working as intended on 2008R2 (and subsequent SPs) - for example...

  • For Status, Shapes in SSAS translated to 3 Signs in Excel i.e. - Green circle, Yellow Triangle, Red diamond.
  • For Trend, Standard Arrow in SSAS translated to 3 Arrows Gray in Excel - i.e. Up, Sideways, Down arrows.

Hoping we're missing something - any workarounds other than manually changing indicators/Icon sets in Excel?
